Sometimes I get to do something cool out of parts which come from humble origins. I found out almost by accident this body selling on Leboncoin, a sales platform here in France. I was in fact searching for other guys who make relic finishes to have a notion of their prices. And this body came up as an abandoned project, and it was already sprayed with white nitro. The seller stated it was a 2-pc Alder, but it's not; it's a 2-pc Poplar body, weighing 2.1kg. I like Poplar actually, some of my most beautiful Tele projects lately are made of Poplar.

When it arrived I found out that it was a Boston Strat body because of the package. I have worked on one or two bodies from them some years ago. It could be a lot worse!

I've sprayed lacquer over what had been done, but it was too thick. So I removed it all, did the exterior contour more round, and also added more depth to the neck cavity, which had around 15.5mm by 1mm, having 16.5mm now. Sprayed it again, and Yes, the pin-up decals are meant to seduce you!

The neck is probably not my best neck, maybe a bit too dark finish, but it has been here for a while, so, why not? 1-pc maple, 21 Jumbo frets, medium C profile, everytime. You can buy only the body and pickguard if you want, both for 275 Euros plus shipping. However the pickguard goes with it, not negotiable.

Last thing; as far as a vibrato, the spacing is 56mm, but take my advice, go for the Fender Vintage/Narrow vibrato. It costs only around 70 Euros, the screw spacing is 56mm but the string spacing is 52mm, which would be better for this neck. That's what I would do myself.

I think it looks pretty great, doesn't it?
