When Bruno asked me to customise a Tele Guitarbuild body and one Hosco neck, I told him "Yes" because we work for a while together and he has already bought several pieces of my work. He wanted an Orange relic'd finish in the front, and a tinted transparent lacquered finish on the sides and back. I remember doing (almost) that in 2016, in one of my first projects - see my old blog MXKTGUITARS - when I painted a red Tele body, but I was so tired of removing it because of finish issues that I left the back in red and all the rest on a grunge natural look.
For years and years Orange was my favourite colour, but not on guitars... Once the boy finished, honestly, I didn't liked it that much. Rothko and Frost hadn't Capri Orange in stock and I've ordered Orange Aniline powder that I mixed with plain Artic White nitro. My spray gun doesn't like Aniline powder that much in fact. Since he wanted, at first, a light relic job, I've done several coats so it could be really thick. The problem was, that he saw a Tele body I had done for another client with an heavy relic on it - not posted yet - and fell in love with it. Man, I lost the number of hours spent only with the front of this body!!
The neck has a hand-tinted and (very much) rubbed finish with transparent lacquer, awesome effect! At the end, once the shades done on the body and all, I changed my mind... I still don't like orange guitars that much, but this one turned out great!
