If pastel color tones is your thing, come closer! To understand this project you would have to read the description of my #202208 project, a P Bass body in Sunburst that was actually made in 2019 as a custom order for someone in France. That custom order stayed on the shelf until this year - I'm not good with custom orders guys - and tragically, a couple of months ago, Chronopost lost it while it was being sent in Italy. Back then, I had bought an Allparts PMO Bass neck from the guys at Stratosphere USA to go with it. This year, I decided to do something with the neck; I had this 3-pc Alder 2.3kg Precision Bass body ref. 514651 from my usual supplier around, and went for a BBlonde semi-transparent finish that aged pretty well.
Did I mention I'm now affiliate to Nitorlack finishing products? Yes sir, and proud of it! I was already a (small) customer and their products never let me down until now. Nitorlack's Vintage White nitro, a small amount of Amber for the yellowing, mixed with Gloss Transparent Lacquer, and there you have it! The neck was finished with an Amber / Transparent Lacquer finish, and aged once dried. Lovely details, and it did crackle here and there.
Both body and neck turned out great, so I decided to buy original Fender hardware, not all, but several items, Allparts vintage bridge and Gotoh machine heads. I know it's more expensive than usual, but it's the real deal. You can check out the Thomann order on the last picture, and the price of the hardware, I won't hide anything from you. Mint Green pickguard from Fleor; either they're chinese or korean, but their stuff is great! The control and PU cavities were covered with aluminium tape, all Göldo 250k electronics, Fender original nut, and the ground wire is already in place. The only thing I haven't touched were the frets; my leveling beam is not that big, so they were NOT leveled, ok?
Depending on the platform, the number if pictures shown is limited; on my blog you will have access to 30 pics plus the part list. So check out my blog to see the whole stuff.
Enjoy!
God bless guys!
