#202213 :: Americana Modern body in Ice Blue Metallic "Mandown!" :: SOLD

Either this finish will be a success or a failure!

This body is the exception to the rule; instead of the usual vintage type necks with aprox. 55,5mm heel, this one will only work with 56,5mm modern necks or something very near to this. 2-pc Alder, Strat shape with hardtail bridge configuration, 54mm spacing, 2.2Kg, and a basic Ice Blue Metallic finish. I mixed a small amount of blue alcohol soluble powder pigment to Nitorlack's Inca Silver, and also some of their Gloss Lacquer (IMO it helps metallic colors to spread more evenly).

It was then that I remembered a Charvel or Jackson finish I had seen on Instagram, and decided to go for it. If you're expecting a pristine smooth finish, it ain't the case; the bloods spills were followed by 2 Gloss Lacquer coats but you can still feel a light texture where the Hot Rod Red nitro is thicker, pretty realistic! I have dissolved it in acetone instead of solvent progressively, because acetone dries very quickly and allows the red to fix almost immediatelly, to avoid the Ice Blue Metallic to start draining, which would ruin the finish.

I think it looks great! I would really like to do another finish like this shortly, let's see how you guys react to it. By the way, the interior of the back cavity was covered with aluminium foil tape as you can see, and I have made a custom back plate too, in Mint Green 3-ply material. No screw holes in case you change your mind and decide otherwise. The front is prepared to receive a 3 or 5-way lever switch, and I haven't done any drilling for pots, this gives you the opportunity to choose whatever you want as electronics that fits inside.

Hope you like it!
