Hello you all. Usually my "LATEST NEWS" posts are happy, but this one is not, unfortunately.
We're the 3rd September, and this body was sold the week before. It arrived yesterday to it's destiny. It was supposed to arrive last Friday, but UPS changed the delivery date to the next Monday, and the buyer wrote me about that. I told him it was not a problem; the tracking stated it was in Germany, so it wasn't at all lost. I buy hardware all the time at Thomann, and UPS changes often their delivery day to the next day.
The client in question had asked me to buy it outside eBay because of some Paypal issues. No problem, I accept bank transfer. Soon as the money landed in my account I have suspended the listing on eBay but also on Reverb, where I had already stated it was "Reserved".
Today I have received several messages and photos of it, the buyer isn't happy. If I understood correctly his messages, the main complaint is the weight. If you read the description on it's page you'll see that right on the first sentence it is written 3,044Kg. How clear is that?!
I have sent also a small bottle with the same dye I've used on the bare wood because I've noticed that the finish could here and there flake, and as you can see, I've even sent a letter (glad he took a picture of it) for him to know HOW to apply it without ruining the finish.
The other pictures show he has installed a vibrato, pickups, and a backplate. Did he noticed it was heavy only after that?! Either on eBay, Reverb, or through my blog, if a buyer isn't happy with an item, I ALWAYS accept the return, even if I loose money. Why? Because I'm a Christian and my reputation is important to me.
But we cannot expect to ask someone to accept a return once the buyer has already pierced, installed, changed the item; does it make sense? I believe so.
If someone buys parts for a project without making sure they fit the measurements on the description of my items, it is NOT my fault. Either you have some knowledge on wood working and solve it, or you better give it to luthier or technician so the project won't be ruined.
That said, my only regret is to have sold it to someone who (apparently) has no common sense. I try to bring happiness to my clients through my work, but I wasn't able this time.
